Color Line’s new hybrid ferry to use Rolls-Royce engines

Rolls-Royce’s diesel engines have been selected to power Color Line’s hybrid ferry.

  • Ferry will operate on diesel and electric power. Batteries will be recharged using a cable from Color Line’s own shore facilities or by the vessel’s own generators.
  • Four B33:45L engines will be delivered in March 2018. The ferry is designed by Fosen and will be built at Ulstein Verft in Norway.
  • It will operate between Sandefjord in Norway and Strømstad in Sweden, once completed in 2019, transporting 2,000 passengers and 500 cars.
