CR Ocean Engineering has been praised by Royal Caribbean International for the provision of its sulphur oxides (SOx) scrubbers that have helped the global cruise line to comply with International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations.
Royal Caribbean’s recent launch of its 19-ship retrofit program included the installation of CR Ocean Engineering and Wärtsilä scrubbers.
Royal Caribbean has reported that CR Ocean Engineering scrubbers were chosen for their small footprints and ability to self-adjust to any water alkalinity, ensuring global operational compliance, in particular within Emission Control Areas (ECAs) where the maximum permitted sulphur content is 0.1%.
With the installation of both CR Ocean Engineering and Wärtsilä scrubbers, Royal Caribbean’s standards now exceed MARPOL regulations.
