SCR Technology Ship Tests Prove Tier III Compliance

HUG Engineering’s selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system has proven its ability to meet the most recent and highly stringent International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier III regulation for ship nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions that came into force on January 1, 2016.

Carried out by Lloyd’s Register, an Amels 188 yacht was tested for NOx emissions with the SCR installed.  Both the main and auxiliary engines were certified as IMO Tier III compliant.

Hug Engineering says further NOx emission reduction certification tests will be performed worldwide.
