EnSolve Biosystems has successfully completed a sea trial of its scrubber water treatment system on a ship operating in the Baltic Sea.
During DNV GL certification testing in August 2016, the EnScrub system was found to successfully discharge 97% of sulphur oxides (SOx) water entering the system of a closed-loop scrubber. The remaining 3% of sludge was sent to a decanter for further dewatering.
The EnScrub scrubber water treatment system is a multistage system that combines physical and chemical processes with either open-loop, closed-loop or hybrid scrubber systems, and discharges results that meet the regulatory requirements of MEPC.295(68).
Jason Caplan, EnSolve’s CEO, commented: “The incorporation of an EnScrub device into a SOx scrubber system provides our shipping customers a complete pollution abatement system that addresses regulated contaminants in the engine emissions as well as the scrubber water.”
