Stena has selected Selektope-containing antifouling coating to prevent barnacle invasion on the hulls of its newbuild RoPax ferries.
- Selektope is an organic non-metal compound that has high efficacy at low concentrations, low leaching rates and flexibility to boost copper-based paint formulations or remove copper.
- I-Tech, which holds IP and regulatory rights to Selektope, claims that Selektope offers superior hard fouling protection, resulting in lower water resistance and decreased fuel consumption.
- The ferries will be delivered in 2019/2020 and will be built at the AVIC yard in Weihai, China.
