Shell Joins LNG-Powered Bulk Carrier Design Project

Shell has joined an industry project alongside bulk carrier owner Arista Shipping, Deltamarin ABS, GTT and Wärtsilä to develop technically feasible and commercially viable design for LNG-fuelled ocean-going vessels.

The project has Deltamarin’s B.Delta bulk carrier design at the core. It seeks to ensure a long sailing range on LNG, which can easily be adjusted to fit the specific needs of each owner or trade pattern.

Shell has already taken steps to prepare LNG bunkering infrastructure at different ports to accelerate the adoption of the fuel in the shipping industry.

Therefore, Shell’s participation will see the oil major discussing the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG)- powered ships and the options for accessing LNG fuel.
