Wärtsilä has been awarded the contract to provide integrated turnkey electrical solutions for four new RoRo ferries being built at the Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) yard in Germany.
The managing director of the German shipyard stated that through the full integration and repeat of the systems, they expect an improvement in efficiency and reduction in risk.
The 11,000 DWT ferries will feature the full scope of solutions from Wärtsilä SAM Electronics including the electrical systems engineering and project management, supply and installation of the cables and equipment. Wärtsilä Nacos Platinum navigation and automation, external and internal communication systems, energy distribution, the lighting system, and the engine control room consoles will be included.
The SIEM RoRo Carriers ferries will be chartered by Danish operator DFDS and Turkish operator EKOL.
The contract will start immediately and first equipment is scheduled for summer 2016.
