Thome Group, an international ship management company, has become the first local company to achieve Eco-Office certification in the Philippines.
The certification, which is regarded as the strictest of its kind in the region, recognises environmental commitment and sustainability through energy and environmental conservation.
The Eco-Office initiative, which was developed by Singapore Environmental Council (SEC) and City Developments Limited (CDL), offers a range of programs including the Eco-Office Rating System which enables offices to perform a self-audit based on supplied metrics, such as corporate environmental policy and commitment, purchasing practice, waste minimisation measures and levels of recycling. This enables companies to measure their performance over time and to apply for an Eco-Office award (previously known as the Green Office).
Accreditation was awarded to four Thome Group companies following a comprehensive audit, including Thome Ship Management Pte Ltd – ROHQ, TSM Shipping (Phils) Inc, MST Marine Services (Phils) Inc, and Timur Shipping (Phils) Inc.
