Singapore-based Thome Ship Management has opened a modern training facility in the Philippines. The new facility in Makati City Has been built with the type of modern equipment crew members will counterpoint in their on board working day on Thome client vessels.
The training workshop and associated dormitory can accommodate up to 50 seafarers or cadets and comes complete with wi-fi, 10 PCs for computer-based training, and various state-of-the-art facilities and equipment that the ship manager says meets key vessel requirements of its shipowning clients.
Training equipment includes FRAMO Pumping System, Scanjet tank cleaning systems, oil water separator from Jowa, a 38KW generator, a Yanmar engine, and an Alfa Laval purifier
The new facility has been designed to offer pre-sea cadet training, engine enhancement courses across the engineer officer ranks, training in pumping systems, crude oil washing and inert gas, along with advanced oil and chemical training for officers and ratings.
Ina press statement Claes Eek Thorstensen, President and COO of the Thome Group said: ““Having such a modern and up to date training facility based in the Philippines where we recruit many of our cadets and crew is so important to maintaining a consistent level of well trained and motivated seafarers.”
