Thun Tankers has ordered four next generation, energy efficient chemical tankers with the intent to gradually replace its existing vessels with future-proof, efficient newbuilds.
The tanker designs will focus on sustainability, environmental impact reduction, and enabling he vessels to meet current and upcoming regulations.
The company also intends to build a series of identical sister-ships, with some featuring dual-fuel engines facilitating the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
To be built by Scheepswerf Ferus Smit B.V. in the Netherlands, the recently ordered vessels have a schedule delivery in the fourth quarter in 2018 onwards.
Thun Tankers started as a company in November 2012.
