TUI Cruises GmbH is to fit two of its cruise liners with Valmet exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS) to reduce sulphur oxides (SOx) emissions from the ships’ engines.
Mein Schiff 7 & 8, which are to be built by Meyer Turku for TUI Cruises, are to feature hybrid scrubbers for both engine rooms and all auxiliary systems. The ability to function in open or closed-loop mode means they can be used in both seawater and freshwater environments. All emissions are continuously monitored and the scrubbers are controlled with Valmet’s proven marine automation.
The scrubbers will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2016 and the first quarter of 2017 to the first and second ships, respectively.
