UK MCA Addresses Ballast Convention & Impact of Brexit Vote

A representative of the United Kingdom Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) has this morning addressed the recent EU referendum result and how the Brexit might affect the Ballast Water Management (BWM) Convention at the UK Chamber of Shipping’s Ballast Water Forum this week.

In a nutshell, the UK MCA’s senior environmental policy lead Leanne Page said: no, the BWM Convention is not affected by the Referendum result and subsequent Brexit.

Page also confirmed that UK positions have not changed and that the UK’s discussions with littoral states will continue.
