With all the talk about digitalisation it is easy to think that by just “being digital” a shipping company can improve its business. That’s not the case according to Andrias Justinussen from Danish short sea shipping and logistics firm DFDS.
While talking at the recent Smart Transformation event in Hamburg, Justinussen said it is important to focus on your costs and revenues, and find the areas that need improvement, and then look at the tools that will hel achieve that.
“Adopting new technology is not the goal itself,” he said “I don’t think it is important (to just look at the levels of adoption of various new-tech) and what you need to stay focused on, though we have to keep our eyes open to know what is out there, it is not important we adopt all these technologies”
