Wärtsilä Genius services’ concept has expanded its service portfolio to help customers optimise their operations and enhance performance of their assets by taking advantage of the opportunities offered by digitalisation including real-time data and analytics.
The expanded genius services have now switched focus from maintenance and servicing alone to more comprehensive optimisation of customers’ business. Originally launched in November 2015, the concept now offers more services including a Wärtsilä Offline Vibration Analysis to monitor the health of propulsion and other rotating equipment. The Wärtsilä condition based maintenance service has also been updated to allow daily follow-up of equipment condition to support customers’ businesses and the Wärtsilä Engine Efficiency Monitoring Service is now available for dual-fuel engines.
The Vibration Analysis service analyses measurement data from the equipment to determine their condition and possible maintenance needs. Component defects, alignment issues and balance problems can be detected and remedied before they have a chance to cause significant damage.
The Engine Efficiency Monitoring service, now available for dual-fuel engines, uses real-time data to optimise fuel consumption, enabling ship operators to adjust their operations according to the data given. The service includes expert advice on overhaul and operational patterns. The service also serves as a solid foundation for developing efficiency monitoring to include a wide range of operations of a gas or dual-fuel engine operated ship.
Wärtsilä has also updated its Condition-Based Maintenance service to permit follow up daily of key operational data in addition to the monthly reporting. Data and insight is provided regarding the state of the equipment and expert recommendations are included concerning the optimisation of maintenance intervals.
